WoW SoD Dagger Rogue Talents & Runes (Mutilate)

Choose the following talents and runes as a dagger Rogue with Mutilate for Phase 4 at level 60:

Even as a Mutilate build, Improved Sinister Strike is the only damage-increasing talent in the first row due to Poisoned Knife. If you aren’t using the skill Blade Flurry in the content you’re playing, remove the talent point and increase Seal Fate to 5/5.

WoW SoD Combat Rogue Talents & Runes (Saber Slash)

Choose the following talents and runes as a sword/mace Combat Rogue with Saber Slash for Phase 4 at level 60:

With this build, you can switch between Saber Slash and Mutilate. If you don’t intend to play the Mutilate spec, you can remove the 3 talent points from Improved Backstab. Since there aren’t any talents available that improve your DPS, you can invest the points in any other talent of your liking.

SoD Phase 4 DPS Rogue BiS List

The following DPS Rogue BiS list contains the best items you can get in Phase 4 of Season of Discovery to DPS in raids and dungeons:

Fire Resistance for Heat Level 2 and Heat Level 3

To raid the more difficult heat levels in Molten Core you need to hit Fire Resistance thresholds. For Heat Level 2 you need at least 96 Fire Resistance and for Heat Level 3 you need at least 226 Fire Resistance. To increase your Fire Resistance you can equip gear, utilize enchantments, use consumables, and get buffs from your Druids, Shamans ¹, and Paladins ¹.

Use the following sources to increase your Fire Resistance to the required threshold:

Mark of the Wild (up to 27 Fire Resistance if improved, does not stack with Fire Resistance Totem)

Using Fire Resistance items often results in a DPS loss in comparison to your BiS list. After you’ve acquired new raid items recalculate your Fire Resistance and re-optimize your gear loadout.

🔥 Since the boss Garr from Molten Core can dispel magic effects, you should make sure your Rogue is hitting the Fire Resistance threshold without Mark of the Wild for that specific fight. This might require you to have some off-pieces for that boss fight.

¹ For most guilds, it is not recommended to rely on Shaman totems or Paladin auras to hit the minimum Fire Resistance thresholds. If the aura or totem is out of range or the player dies, you will lack Fire Resistance. Use the totems or auras as additional mitigation, but calculate your Fire Resistance without them.

⁵ You only need the reputation with Timbermaw Hold to craft the base item. If you buy the base item from another player, being Friendly with Timbermaw Hold is enough to upgrade the base item to the epic pre-BiS version.

DPS Rogue Rotation

The rotation for a DPS Rogue is better described as a priority list. Follow these priorities while doing raids or dungeons:

Keep Slice and Dice up. Don’t wait for 5 Combo Points. Cast it as early as possible.
Use Poisoned Knife whenever it’s available.
If Slice and Dice is active, use Rupture with 5 Combo Points as your finisher (only Mutilate builds).
If your other finishers are active, use Envenom as your finisher.
Cast Mutilate / Saber Slash.

To improve your DPS further, you can use Vanish to refresh Master of Subtlety and activate Cold Blood before you use Envenom.

DPS Rogue Stat Priority

As a DPS Rogue you want to prioritize gear with the following stats:

Up to 9% Hit Chance against level 60 raid bosses.
Crit Chance.
Agility.
Strength.
Attack Power.

With your finger rune and the Precision talent, you only need 1% Hit Chance to reach the Melee Hit Cap. For your poisons, you still profit from Hit Chance until you reach the 16% Spell Hit Chance cap. But starting at a Hit Chance of 9%, Hit Chance has a lower priority than before.
