What is the Zscaler IP range? ›

IP Range: The beginning and ending IP address range used for server-to-client connectivity. This field is only visible if IP Range is selected for IP Range or IP Subnet.

Integers "0-9", ".", and "-" can be part of an IP address range. The range of IP addresses must be between 0.0. 0.0 and 255.255. 255.255.

Standard IP access lists are numbered 1 to 99 or 1300 to 1999; extended IP access lists are numbered 100 to 199 or 2000 to 2699. The range of standard IP access lists was initially only 1 to 99, and was subsequently expanded with the range 1300 to 1999 (the intervening numbers were assigned to other protocols).

On Linux, type the command “ifconfig” and press Return. On Windows, type the command “ipconfig” and press Return. Get more information by typing the command “arp -a.” You should now see a basic list of the IP addresses for devices connected to your network.

What are CIDR ranges? ›

CIDR is also used for IPv6 addresses and the syntax semantic is identical. The prefix length can range from 0 to 128, due to the larger number of bits in the address. However, by convention, a subnet on broadcast MAC layer networks always has 64-bit host identifiers.

An IP address is a string of numbers separated by periods. IP addresses are expressed as a set of four numbers — an example address might be 192.158.1.38. Each number in the set can range from 0 to 255. So, the full IP addressing range goes from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255.

TCP/IP Ports

Ports 0 through 1023 are defined as well-known ports. Registered ports are from 1024 to 49151. The remainder of the ports from 49152 to 65535 can be used dynamically by applications.

Zscaler provides a default IPS rule that blocks all traffic. You can create granular policies of higher precedence (i.e., higher admin rank) than the default rule to explicitly allow specific traffic (e.g., IT Security group traffic matching threats) while blocking all other traffic via the default rule.

Addresses in the range 224.0. 1.0 to 224.0. 1.255 are individually assigned by IANA and designated as the internetwork control block. This block of addresses is used for traffic that must be routed through the public Internet, such as for applications of the Network Time Protocol using 224.0.

Generally speaking, /32 means that the network has only a single IPv4 address and all traffic will go directly between the device with that IPv4 address and the default gateway. The device would not be able to communicate with other devices on the local subnet.
