Adele denies Skepta romance as she insist she's a '(single) cat lady' (2024)

It was recently reported that things were 'heating up' between Adeleand her 'love interest' Skepta,one year after the musicians were first linked.

But, Adele, 32, shut down the rumours she was dating the rapper as she told fans she's a '(single) cat lady,' in an Instagram caption, which she shared on Wednesday.

Alongside a photograph of herself on Saturday Night Live, the Hello songstress first praised all those involved in her successful hosting gig, before ensuring she not-so-subtly confirmed her relationship status.

Adele wrote: 'Had the best time on SNL! Thank you to the most wonderful cast, crew, writers and producers. What a sublime bunch of people you are. Lorne thank you for believing in me!

'Lindsay my sister for life, Maya my comedy and Mama hero! Plus the so up for it audiences at both the dress rehearsal and live show!

'I did it for the joy of it and I hope you got some from it too! Good luck with the election America I love you so much. Look after each other and go easy on yourselves. Happy Halloween!

'I'm going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year.'

It comes after Adele and Skepta, 38, were spotted having a wild night out in eastLondon last month.

According to insiders, things were 'heating up' between Adele and Skepta, who were first linked in September 2019 following her divorce from ex-husbandSimon Konecki.

The Rolling In The Deep singer, who poked fun at her love life during her SNL hosting stint, was reportedly having a great time with the Grime artist.

A source told People: 'Things have been heating up. They run in the same circles in London, and she's having fun.'

MailOnline contacted representatives for Adele and Skepta at the time.

During her SNL hosting stint, the star quipped that she would be signing up to appear on Love Islandwhere she hoped to find romance following her divorce.

However it seems Adele's words were in jest, as she has been reportedly dating Sketpa for more than a year following the breakdown of her marriage.

Adele split from Simon in April last year, after seven years together, and the hitmaker is believed to have filed for divorce in September 2019.

Adele shares a son, Angelo, with Simon while Skepta - real nameJoseph Junior Adenuga Jr - became a father in 2018.

The reports came after the pair spoke about each other in high regards to the press and made it clear of their fondness on social media.

In 2016, Skepta said of Adele to ES Magazine: 'Adele texts me all the time and keeps me in check. She speaks to me about how things are going.'

While in the same year, the Someone Like You hitmaker posted a picture of the Shutdown rapper, writing: 'Tottenham Boy' alongside a heart emoji.

The Mercury Prize winner retweeted the snap and replied: 'love you' with a red rose emoji.

Discussing the moment, months later Skepta told IBTimes UK: 'She gassed me up. One day I was just chilling and she [tweeted] a picture that said 'Tottenham boy' and she's from Tottenham as well.

'I was actually going to quit music that day, that was one of the sickest things ever. She's like the lady of Tottenham.'
